We are seeking a strategic and results-driven General Manager, with a clear pathway to President, to lead a well-established, employee-owned organization into its next phase of growth and innovation. This executive will define the company’s long-term vision, drive financial strength, and optimize operations while upholding its legacy of excellence, collaboration, and superior service.
The ideal candidate will be both a visionary leader and a hands-on operator, balancing strategic foresight with execution. They will oversee financial management, business development, and project execution while fostering a high-performance culture. This role requires an experienced leader who can expand market presence, strengthen client relationships, and ensure sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
- Define and execute a forward-thinking corporate strategy that ensures long-term sustainability and market competitiveness.
- Identify market opportunities, set growth goals, and develop pricing strategies to strengthen the company’s position in the landscaping industry.
- Expand the company’s footprint through client acquisition, strategic partnerships, and new service offerings.
Financial Stewardship & Operational Excellence
- Oversee financial performance, ensuring profitability, operational efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.
- Manage budgets, forecast revenue, analyze financial data, and optimize financial health through informed decision-making.
- Drive best-in-class operational standards, ensuring efficiency in resource allocation, labor costs, and project execution.
Project & Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of landscaping projects, ensuring seamless execution from planning to completion.
- Lead site assessments, design development, cost estimation, and project timelines for large-scale landscaping projects.
- Ensure quality control by upholding industry best practices and safety protocols.
- Optimize vendor management, negotiating competitive contracts for materials, equipment, and services.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Foster a high-performance leadership team, cultivating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Recruit, hire, train, and mentor top-tier talent across field crews, supervisors, and administrative staff.
- Develop and implement succession planning initiatives to ensure long-term organizational resilience.
Client & Stakeholder Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
- Address client concerns effectively and proactively to uphold the company’s reputation for service excellence.
- Maintain strong governance practices and ensure compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive executive leadership experience, preferably as a General Manager, or Senior Operations Leader in a mid-sized or large organization.
- Proven track record of financial success, operational optimization, and strategic growth in a competitive market.
- Strong business acumen, with expertise in corporate strategy, financial management, project execution, and talent leadership.
- Experience leading large-scale landscaping, construction, or service-based operations is highly desirable.
- Horticultural knowledge and landscaping industry expertise are preferred but not required.
- Experience working within an employee-owned (ESOP) organization is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in project management, customer relationship management, and financial forecasting tools.
