A premier residential landscape construction company is seeking a top-notch CFO/Financial Controller to oversee and drive the financial and administrative operations. This role is critical in maintaining financial excellence, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, managing budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing strategic financial guidance to management. Key Responsibilities:

Operational Financial Management:

  • Oversee operational information to manage the business.
  • Develop and maintain job costing and percent-of-completion accounting.
  • Collaborate with operations management on cost performance.
  • Support financial management in purchasing, fleet, and administrative expenses.
  • Lead and mentor the finance and admin team. Provide staff training for competence and performance.

Financial Management:

  • Oversee and establish effective internal control systems for all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
  • Manage compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings. Liaise with external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Conduct account reconciliations, variance analyses, and regular audits for policy compliance.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and monitor cash flow and liquidity..
  • Monitor budget variances and recommend cost control improvements.
  • Collaborate with department heads on budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop financial models for budgeting and planning.

Strategic Planning:

  • Provide financial analysis for strategic decisions.
  • Participate in long-term financial planning.
  • Evaluate financial performance against plans and forecasts.
  • Support local and corporate financial management communication.
  • Implement procedures to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Support capital budgeting and management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA is a plus.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and dependability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations in California.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
